The initial purpose of ELUAT when founded in 2012 was to uphold environmental justice.

Started as a mediation facility, it then evolved towards a more classical tribunal with more restrictions to the apealants, namely when it comes to demonstrate a Locus Standi (defined as the right or capacity to bring an action or to appear in a court.).
