Follow-up AKNL’s complaint to (GEF) and UNDP
Follow-up AKNL’s complaint to the Global environment Fund (GEF) and the UNDP.
This official complaint was pointing out the contradiction between the applied development policies and the “Mainstreaming biodiversity into the management of the coastal zone in the Republic of Mauritius” project, financed by these two institutions. UNDP’s administrator having adopted a fairly accommodating stand in his final report and on a fairly different tune to the findings of the UNDP’s own Social and Environmental Compliance Unit (SECU), AKNL thought there was matter point it out.
This step was detailed in a previous blog where this correspondence has been published.
This was followed by a second correspondence from Mr. A. Steiner, the administrator, followed by a (final) reply from AKNL, which by the way triggered a short friendly note from GEF’s CEO and chairperson, Mr. Carlos Manuel Rodriguez.
Here-below are the last three exchanges about a “case file” that lasted two years.
– E-mail received from Mr. A. Steiner following AKNL’s correspondence.
– AKNL’s (final) reply.
– Friendly support note from Mr. Carlos Manuel Rodriguez.
