The barriers of shame are down
Following various correspondence from AKNL to the different ministers of land and housing as well as members of parliaments, first asking for the cancellation of the lease, then the removal of the tin-sheet barriers, members of AKNL were, in August 2020 finally allowed to meet the then minister of land and housing, and obtained the promise that the barriers be removed.
After some hesitations, the promise was held and the “barriers of shame,” erected end 2017 were removed at the beginning of September 2020, more than a year after the cancellation of the lease.
And the hopes that Pomponette is re-declared a public beach are revived.
