AKNL part of pre-budget consultations
AKNL being a recognised citizen platform, has been invited to be part of the pre-budget consultations. Recommendations made were:
– That following the Assises de l’Environnement (Assises of the environment) in December 2019 (in which AKNL also participated), funds be allocated for continuous public consultations so as to ensure that the participation of citizens in the decisions regarding land use and development is maintained.
– That an inter-ministerial mechanism be set up so as to commit to the implementation of the outcomes of the Assises de l’Environnement.
– Give full formal recognition to the legal right of citizens to protect the environment and to lodge appeal cases against EIA licenses and building permits.
– Propositions of some urgent and crucial decisions to be taken for the protection of the coast.
